Inspired by Matt
A Life of Strength, Faith, and Purpose
Matty’s Promise is inspired by Matt — and carried forward by his family.
In 2022, at just 18 years old, Matt Torgersen was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. Through every challenge, his strength and compassion never wavered. Even in his final days, unable to speak, he wrote: “Find a cure. Help people. Foundation in my name.”
Matty’s Promise was created by his mother Lisa, his father Joe, and his brothers Joey and Kyle to honor those words and continue the work Matt began. Matt’s brave journey ended on July 6, 2024 — but his light lives on through every family we support and every step toward a cure.

About Osteosarcoma
A Rare Bone Cancer That Demands Our Attention
When Matt was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, we had never even heard of it. No family should face this disease without answers, support, or hope. Osteosarcoma is an uncommon and fast-spreading bone cancer affecting mostly children, teens, and young adults. By learning about it, sharing awareness, and funding research, we can change outcomes for families facing this fight today.
